This true native lily is a tiny plant, a spring ephemeral, blooming early in moist woodlands. It is often called dogtooth violet, confusing anyone trying to understand its evolutionary origins. It is not a violet, but a member of the Liliaceae, or lily family ("Erythronium albidum"). From our biodiversity garden; Studio shot.
Brown-eyed susan, "Rudbeckia hirta", Asteraceae.
"Rubus odoratus", commonly called flowering raspberry, in the rose family (Rosacea). This is my favourite stage of the flower. It has been pollinated, and it is dying. The bright pink petals have fallen off. It is in process of becoming a fruit!
