"Coreopsis lanceolata", commonly called lanceleaf coreopsis, in the daisy family (Asteraceae).
This true native lily is a tiny plant, a spring ephemeral, blooming early in moist woodlands. It is often called dogtooth violet, confusing anyone trying to understand its evolutionary origins. It is not a violet, but a member of the Liliaceae, or lily family ("Erythronium albidum"). From our biodiversity garden; Studio shot.
Brown-eyed susan, "Rudbeckia hirta", Asteraceae.
