A monk saki monkey foraging high in the canopy of a rain forest tree. Monk sakis have coarse, long, shaggy fur and long, bushy tails. They spend their lives in the trees in small family groups, feeding mostly on fruits but also leaves and insects ("Pithecia monachus", Pitheciidae).
Horned screamers are difficult to photograph because they don't stick around when you approach them. Slowly, eventually, I will get an interesting shot of this iconic Amazonian species ("Anhima cornuta", Anhimidae).
When the forest is flooded you can sail right into the canopy. This is the very top of a kapok tree ("Pseudobombax munguba"), accessible by boat when the water is high.
